Twinkly lights 2D mapping

Twinkly 2D mapping involves creating a virtual representation of the physical layout of your Twinkly lights on a two-dimensional plane. This mapping allows you to precisely control and coordinate the behaviour of each individual light within your setup. 2D mapping is recommended for decorations setup on a flat surface:

Here’s a step-by-step guide to Twinkly 2D mapping:

Launch the Twinkly mobile app on your smartphone or tablet. If you haven’t already done so, create an account and log in.
Look for the ‘Layout’ within the app and select ‘Map Lights’ and then ‘2D mapping’.
Using the app’s interface, you will typically see a grid or canvas representing your Twinkly lights layout.
Wait for the app to generate your 2D layout, then select ‘OK’.
With your lights mapped, you can now customise their behaviour and appearance using the app. This may include selecting colours, choosing from pre-programmed animations or creating your own custom effects.
You are all done and ready to enjoy your Twinkly lights.

Twinkly lights 3D mapping

Twinkly lights 3D mapping is an exclusive Twinkly feature that allows the Twinkly App to use your smartphone’s camera to scan each LED bulb. This creates an advanced 3D virtual layout of your lights.

To set up Twinkly 3D mapping, follow these step by step instructions:

Ensure your smartphone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want to use for the Twinkly lights.
Open the app and select “Add Device” to connect your lights to the app.
Once the lights are connected, go to the “Layout” section.
Select the “3D Mapping” option.
The app will prompt you to scan your lights. Move around the installation with your phone camera, following the on-screen instructions.
Ensure you capture the lights from different angles to create an accurate 3D map. It is recommended to scan slowly and thoroughly.
LEDs on the lights will turn from red > orange > yellow and eventually to green when fully mapped.
Press “add another” to continue mapping. Do this until the LEDs are green to ensure the best layout.
After scanning, the app will process the data to create a 3D layout of your lights.
Review the generated layout. You can manually adjust points if necessary for better accuracy.
Confirm and save the layout once satisfied.

Select Effects:

With the 3D layout saved, go to the “Effects” section in the app.
Browse and select from various dynamic effects that utilise the 3D mapping for enhanced visual displays.
Use the app to customise effects, create your own and adjust brightness, speed and other settings to your preference.

Troubleshooting Tips

Ensure Proper Lighting: Perform the mapping in good lighting conditions to ensure the camera accurately captures the lights.
Wi-Fi Connection: Make sure your smartphone and Twinkly lights have a stable Wi-Fi connection throughout the process.
Re-scan if Needed: If the 3D mapping is not accurate, you can re-scan the lights to improve the layout.
