How to group different sets of Twinkly lights together?

Grouping Twinkly lights can enhance your lighting display that allows synchronised control over multiple sets of lights. You can group Twinkly lights in three different ways. Join them to make them one single virtual device, sync them to display same effect on your Twinkly lights and group them by area where displays feature multiple Twinkly devices in a larger scene.

How to create Twinkly join groups

Create a new group and select devices to join group

Navigate to the “Devices” tab to see all the Twinkly lights connected to your network.
Ensure all Twinkly lights you want to group are set up and connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
A list of all available Twinkly lights will appear.
Make sure they are all on, marked with the green icon.
Select the lights you want to include in the group by tapping on each device.
Once selected, tap “Create” or “Continue”.
Enter a name for your new group to help identify it easily.
Tap “Save” to create the group.
The group will appear in the device list.

How to create Twinkly sync groups?

Follow these steps to create sync groups for your Twinkly lights, allows you to control multiple sets of lights simultaneously with synchronised effects.

Navigate to the “Devices” tab to see all the Twinkly lights connected to your network.
Ensure all Twinkly devices you want to group are powered on and have already been individually mapped.
Make sure they are all on, marked with the green icon.
Select the lights you want to include in the sync group by tapping on each device.
Tap “Create” once you’ve selected all the desired lights.
Enter a name for your new sync group to help you easily identify it.
Tap “Save” to create the group.
The group will appear in the “devices list”.

How to create Twinkly area groups or scenes?

Creating area groups or scenes in the Twinkly app allows you to control multiple sets of Twinkly lights within a specific area. Here is a step by step guide to create these groups.

Navigate to the “Devices” tab to see all the Twinkly lights connected to your network.
Ensure all Twinkly devices you want to group are powered on and have already been individually mapped.
Make sure they are all on, marked with the green icon.
Select “Create Area Group” or “Scene” from the available options (the terminology might differ slightly based on app updates).
A list of all available Twinkly lights will appear.
Select all the devices you want to include in the area group or scene by tapping on each device.
Tap “Create” once you have selected all the desired lights.
Enter a name for your new area group or scene to help you easily identify it.
Tap “Save” to create the group.
The group will appear in the device list.

Camera – perform a joined mapping of the entire scene.
Vertical (for iOS only) – Select single devices starting with the highest one (e.g. top of the tree) to the lowest one (base of the tree).
Horizontal (for iOS only) – Select single devices from left to right.

Note: best results in “Vertical” and “Horizontal” modes can be achieved when the devices are already mapped, when possible before creating the scene.

Additional Tips

Adding New Devices to an Existing Group

Open the Twinkly app and navigate to the “Devices” tab.
Select the group you want to add new lights to.
Tap “Edit Group” and then “Add Device”.
Select the new Twinkly lights you want to add and save the changes.

Removing Devices from a Group

Open the Twinkly app and navigate to the “Devices” tab.
Select the group you want to manage.
Tap “Edit Group”.
Deselect the lights you want to remove from the group and save the changes.
